About Us

As the interns of MMI, we are poised with the task of bringing the Raleigh area informative, thought-provoking posts about the happenings in the world of public relations. Comprised of six intelligent (and quite attractive, I might add) minds, we bring our different backgrounds and expertise to the table. Some of us are students, some of us are professionals between careers, some of us are PR junkies, and some of us are social media masterminds. Get to know us a little better below and feel free to drop us a line anytime at intern@mmipublicrelations.com. MMI Public Relations is an award winning, nationally ranked, full-service PR firm that helps its clients start big conversations and make powerful connections. Interested in knowing more? Alisha Byrd is a contributing writer to the Raleigh Public Relations blog and a graduating senior at North Carolina Central University. She is majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in Communications Studies. After graduation in December, Alisha plans to start a career in the Public Relations/Marketing field. Currently, she’s an A&E reporter for her schools newspaper the Campus Echo and volunteers at the Durham Arts Council. When she’s not busy she enjoys relaxing while listening to music, going out with her friends and traveling to her home town of High Point, N.C. to visit family.

James Schlegelmilch is a contributing writer for RPR. He is currently finishing up his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from UNC Greensboro, and is looking forward to his May 2010 graduation. Born in New York and raised in Massachusetts (don’t even get him started on the Yankees/Red Sox debate), Jim has called North Carolina home for almost five years now, with no immediate plans to move elsewhere. When he’s not developing his PR muscles, he can be found trying to make the perfect iTunes playlist, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, staring out the window waiting for the weather to clear up so he can break out his BMX bike and take over the streets of the Triangle, and is always ready, willing, and able to discuss all things Seinfeld. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
