Raleigh NC| North Carolina State Fair Returns

North Carolina Fair Is A Whirlwind Of Fun And Entertainment

Raleigh residents should beware that beginning Oct. 16 their air will be polluted.  It will be polluted with the scent of fried candy bars, grilled corn and apple ciders as final preparations are under way for the 2008 North Carolina State Fair, lasting from Oct. 16-26.  The fair is organized by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and features rides, exhibits, concerts, livestock, food and more.

Eager fairgoers should act now as tickets are being sold at discounted rates.  Prices are $2 off regular admission until Oct. 16.  Advance tickets can be purchased at Gate 9 of the State Fairgrounds, the N.C. Museum of History, Triangle Town Center Mall, the State Farmers Market, The Streets at Southpoint mall, Northgate mall and at the State Fair’s website.  Discounted ride tickets will also be available; $10 for a sheet of 18 tickets.

If you choose to purchase tickets online, poke around the website a little.  It has been equipped with all the information necessary for navigating the fair and choosing the best fair activities.  It is even complete with a fair countdown to the number of seconds before it opens.

Fair organizers didn’t stop at their own website though, the fair can be found on Facebook or Myspace and even has a blog titled “Deep Fried At The N.C. State Fair.” For the less internet-savvy, commercials have been running for the fair also.  Commercials began running Sept. 29 to be sure that no one misses out on this exciting North Carolina event.

The North Carolina State Fair has been held on the current fairgrounds since 1928.  In 2007, 858,000 people attended the fair; it is the largest event in North Carolina.
