Hello and welcome to Raleigh’s public relations blog.  This blog will look at the state of public relations in Raleigh, the Triangle, and North Carolina.  This section of the blog is reserved for social media and online media PR tips.  Today we will be looking at delicious.  Delicious.com is a popular bookmarking service that allows users to organize all of their favorite websites in one place.  It is a social network as well, allowing users to find friends online and see what websites their friends are bookmarking.

From a public relations perspective delicious.com is an excellent way to get the story out there.  Why?  The search engine power of the website is astounding.  Google and other search engines consider delicious.com to be a highly authoritative site and rank information from the website high in search results.

The practical application of this is that it is a useful tool when spreading a press release or story.  Minutes after submitting, the story can be found in Google.  If you have really interesting content it may even win its 5 minutes of fame by being featured on the delicious homepage (the internet equivalent of joining Oprah’s Book Club).
